Feeding Season Has Arrived!

Lol!
November is that time of year when many festivities are about to being.  SOme of my friends have just celebrated Eid, and Diwali where lots of lovely rich foods are prepared for the celebrations.

Soon we will be coming up to Thanksgiving for those of you in the USA, and then Christmas parties and the big event itself in December.

So, it's right about this time, that I go on a quick diet to lose a few pounds in preparation of gaining them back over the celebration season.

If you keep it simple and watch your portion sizes, go for walks then the pounds will stay off.

Walking in the cold is a great way to lose pounds.  Your body has to burn up more energy to keep you warm, therefore more of your stored body fat is used!

Do I hear light bulbs going on... lol!

Make it fun, join in with the dancing and games, this will get the pounds shifting in a fun way.

Enjoy the partying season and watch our for more on our blog...

Taking time out to walk or hike can make a difference to your diet or lifestyle programe.

Sometimes its good to just clear your head, but most of all doing some form of exercise will keep you fit and healthy.

Here I share with you a short video I made while out hiking in Reading through Linear Park.

**** GUEST POST **** 6 Exercise Mistakes You Shouldn't Make

If you are exercising on a regular basis and not seeing the sort of results you want, or perhaps just feeling bored with your routine, don’t give up!

The trouble may not be the exercising itself, but the way that you are doing it.

People unknowingly make so many mistakes that don’t allow them to see the proper benefits of their workouts.

Here’s what you need to avoid.

Gym Slouch
When you go to the gym, pay attention to how your body holds itself up.

Slouching over the treadmill, the stair master, or the elliptical is not going to give you the best results.
If your back is rounded over from being tired or worn out, you’re not giving the spine enough support.

Standing erect and tall when you are working out on these machines will give you the best benefit.

It’s best to take a 5 minute break, catch your breath and start over with proper form.

Reading
For some people, multi-tasking when exercising is necessary.
However, you can’t expect to do this and get the best results possible.

If you are finding the time to read while you’re on the elliptical or treadmill, you’re not putting your all into the workout.
Like I said, for some people, this is fine, they just want to be active. But if you’ve hit a plateau, this might be why.
If you just can’t put that book down, try to take breaks every four minutes and focus on your breathing.

Weights and Walking

When you walk and carry hand weights with you, it may seem good because you are adding some strength training to the workout.

On the flip side, this is actually going to compromise your stride.

When you carry weights, you lean forward and that puts stress on the ankles and shins and can cause pulled muscles and even fractures, depending on your skill level. Cardio exercises and strength training should generally be separate.

So, keep the weights to a minimum and be sure to spend some time lifting weights after your walk.

Cardio Not Enough

Most people think that cardiovascular exercise is all they need, but this couldn’t be further from the truth.

EVERYONE can benefit from strength training. Many girls think they will bulk up, but this shouldn’t even be a concern.

Unless you spend 2 hours lifting every single day and take some supplements on the side, you’re not gonna even notice anything besides a leaner, toned look. This is especially true for women and men over 30.

Rushing Reps

Some people try to work through their weight lifting reps too quickly. By doing lifts too fast, you risk injuring your joints and your blood pressure will increase.

Furthermore, you’re not pushing your muscles how they need to be pushed.

The best way to train on strength machines is to left, exhale for 2 counts and when returning, inhale up to a count of four. It’s important to always exhale when you are at the hardest moment of your work.

Think about your workouts and if you find that you’re not getting the benefit you want from them, see if any of the above tips may be the reason why. Change up a few things and see if this helps!

Working it!

Getting motivated to go the gym, or to go for a walk can sometimes be difficult, that's why it is so important to have a buddy or person who can push or motivate you along.

It's been proven that most people who are successful in losing weight do so when supported.

So I thought I would share a quick motivational video with you.

Weight Loss Yoga Moves

Hey Fit Girls and Guys out there.... I thought I would put out a yoga video to aid weight loss.

If you are unable to do any physical exercises due to your size or for medical reasons, then yoga is a gentle way to stretch your limbs and speed up your metabolism without over exerting yourself.  Take your time when doing any exercise especially if you are over weight or have not exercised for a while.

Always make sure you consult your physician before embarking on a change of diet, or exercise.

This is a great DVD of other exercise routines you can do to aid your weightloss.

Weight Loss- Why Am I Not Losing My Weight?

So,you want to lose weight, your eating rabbit food 7 days a week, and your kind of doing some exercise, but somehow your weight does not seem to be coming down.

Ok, let's be serious, you have been steadily losing weight over the last month or two or possibly more, then all of a sudden your weight seems to stubbornly refuse to go beyond a certain point on the scale.

This is known as reaching a 'plateau'.  This is more common than most people think.  So how do you get beyond your plateau?

Quick Tips To Come Off That Plateau
  • First off, are you drinking enough water? Water is really important and helps with the weight loss process. If you donot ingest enough water your body actually holds on to the water, therefore you can appear to be bloated, or not to lose weight as fat needs water to break it down.
  • Adjust your calorie intake.  Too often when clients first go on a weight loss program, they stick to the same calorie intake from day one, you should be constantly adjusting your calorie intake as you lose the weight.
  • Remember your body is a clever complicated piece of equipment.  It calculates how much calories you need to maintain your 'normal state', which encompasses, breathing, moving, eating, digestion etc and then balances the energy needed to do all those things with the energy you are using when you exercise or do other things.
  • Step up the exercise routine, too often your body quickly assesses how much calories you are eating and using, and then addresses the body fat burning process accordingly. That is what makes us humans so unique.  So in order to fool your body, burn even more energy than you are consuming.  Do some intense exercising to increase the 'burn' rate which in turn will aid fat reduction.
  • Add more fibre to your program. Fibre is responsible for breaking down fat, adding extra fibre to your program will help to break your plateau, as well as helping to break down fat, it will help to make the digestive system run smoothly if you are feeling sluggish.
So use these tips and break that plateau.

To your weightloss success
