5 Bad Eating Habits You Should Try To Break

Bad eating habits lead to unhealthy behavior.

Five of the most common bad eating habits are skipping meals, eating while distracted, eating comfort food, not using portion control & eating too fast.

Skipping breakfast can lead to later becoming overly hungry & then over eating.

Eating too fast can also cause you to eat more than you should.

Herbalife nutrition expert Susan Bowerman says that keeping your bad eating habits in mind could help you break them.

4 Tips To A Great Body

Here goes, more tips and more advice, and I am sure you have heard them all before, but hey I'm going to say them again anyway....

Tip No 1 - Drink lots of water- keeping yourself hydrating is key to ensuring weight loss and also helps to cleanse your body. Too often we under rate what water can do for you, and it's not just for weight loss, if you are an athlete or want to keep your current weight down, water is key to ensuring the body and digestion is working to its most optimum.  We often forget that our body is made up of 90% of water, so water for us is the key to a great body.

Tip No 2 - Avoid eating late at night.  If you are able to eat your last meal at least four hours before you go to bed, this will help with your weight management. It's seems pretty obvious, but how many people actually adhere to it.
Did you know that your digestion system shuts down during the night when you sleep, therefore if you eat late your food is not digesting at all..... this can create health problems as time goes on.

Tip No 3 - Participate in Cardio exercise at least 3 - 4 times a week.  Yes, this is a really obvious one, and we all know that cardio is good for your, and it also helps to speed up your metabolism.  Let's face it, once we leave school not many of us continue to take up sports of any kind let alone a cardio type activity (well if you include partying or raving and if you do this regularly then maybe that's an exception :) )

Tip No 4 - Care more about your inch loss than pounds lost!  This may not be so obvious, but if you are losing inches, then eventually the pounds will drop off. Far too many of us worry about our actual weight rather than the inches lost around our waist, hips, bust. So ditch the scales and start measuring yourself at least once a week, and you'll see the difference.  Not sure where to measure? Hips, waist, bust and thighs area good place to start.

Hit That Diet Plan Running

I have had enough of pussy footing around clients who want to lose weight, but either sabotage their diet plans, or come up with excuses not to eat properly or exercise right.

Far too often I get talking to someone who wants to 'lose a few pounds' and tone up their stomach area, but when you ask them what they have done about it so far.... nothing, nada, zilche!

So why is it when we want to lose weight we sabotage ourselves in eating the wrong foods or not putting ourselves out on the exercise trail.

First off, you need to change your mindset.  If you need to lose weight, then you need to focus on losing weight by having it in your thoughts 24/7... Ok, maybe not 24/7 but 80% of the time.

Everything that goes into your mouth, take time out to question.  How is this benefiting my weight loss plan? Am I really hungry? Is this the right thing to be eating right now?

Visualisation is another key aspect to staying on track.  See yourself as the person you want to become.  Keep that thought in your mind.  Athletes and sports people use this technique time and time again to help them stay on track and to win races.  They see themselves winning the race in their head, step by step and when they get out there on the track, its like deja vu.

Take baby steps into weight loss.  The worse thing you can do is to cut out everything that's bad for you at once.  So take it little by little. Start of with cutting one item of food per week. Where you can, I suggest replacing it with a healthier alternative.

I hope these quick tips help you get to where you are going in your weightloss program.

Why Weighing Yourself Is Not A Good Idea When Losing Weight

What!  Did you just read that correctly?  Yes, I said it weighing yourself not only brings you undue stress when you see that the scales have not moved since you started your program (all of two days ago… lol!) or they have moved, but the wrong way up instead of down.  Not only does this send out negative vibes to you and your psychi, but also can sabotage your diet program.

The scales are not a true indication of weight loss by any means.  More accurately would be to measure yourself on a more regular basis, because if you are losing inches then the  program is working for you. If you have been on the program for a while and then see that your weight has increased rather than decrease, then look into why this may be. Are you losing inches in the process? Have you started a weight training workout recently?  Remember that muscle is heavier than fat, and if you have started to work out, or go to the gym, then you may be putting on muscles which is a good thing, as muscle burns calories and will eventually burn fat!

Shaping up is really the key to weight loss and if you recognise the fact that your skirts and blouses are a little looser, and the waist line in your trousers seems to not look so tight, then your onto a winning streak.

Complacency however , does not have a place here.  Remember inch loss is the first part of any weight management campaign, because after inch lose the weight loss will inevitably happen.

Another thing to recognise is the fact that people who have three or more stone to lose will quickly shed weight at the beginning of any program, this is usually due to water retention and not as many would hope that the diet program is a successful one.  Any diet will work if followed, but what makes the difference is how sustainable is that diet going forward on a long term basis.

Make sure you are drinking lots of water, as water is key to helping you break down fat and improving the circulation and metabolism.  Increase your fibre content if you find you are not losing fat.  SO there you have it, do not keep jumping on the scales ever two days.  If you have to and can’t resist then make it every two weeks.

Tips For Keeping On Track - Weightloss/ Dieting

Losing weight takes time, and in doing so we need to break habits we have built up over time.  I am talking about the bad habits of just having to have something in your mouth for no other reason than you just feel you need to...

To often I was caught out by the same bad habit or having snacks late in the evening, it became a habit to have that 'glass of wine' with a few 'biscuits and some cheese', that was my downfall. Tell me what yours is? post me a comment below..

Did you know it takes 21 days to break a habit?  All you need to do is to condition yourself mentally.  When you find yourself reaching for that forbidden food item, say to yourself repeatedly, will this help to get rid of the extra pounds I am carrying around?  DO I really need to eat this right now? Am I really hungry or just bored?

I found myself having these little arguments with myself in front of the refrigerator  each evening, I won many of such arguments, but there were a few that I succumbed to. Then gradually I found that when I had such thoughts,I could switch them off,or decide on another course of action instead, like having an alternative snack that was low fat,and low in calories, or just plain getting a cup of tea or some water and retiring to bed to avoid the kitchen.

Not saying this will work for you, but you need to workout when you find yourself craving these naughty snacks and why.  Only when you find this answer will it be easier for you to manage the snacking for no reason issue.

Always have healthy snacks around the house.  Stop buying unhealthy snacking foods such as cakes, crisps, cheeses and the like.  The less temptation around the better.  If you do have to buy them, then look for low fat alternatives, and then be conscious of stretching out the snack when you eat it. If it lasts longer you are less likely to snack again after.

  • Snacks should be no more than approximately 110 calories.  You should also ensure you only have 2 / 3 snacks per day.
  • Keeping a photo of you now on the refrigerator is a way of helping you to keep on the straight and narrow.
  • Buying or hanging up an outfit that you want to get into is really a good method to keep you focused. If you have a reason for losing the weight or dieting, the nensure you have this reason posted in a place where you can see this daily.
  • Manage your portion sizes. I use a smaller plate so that I don't fill it up.
  • Drink a glass of water the next time you think you are hungry for a snack, it may well turn out that you are thirsty and not hungry.
  • Instead of eating a chocolate bar when you next feel for one, why not try a hot or cold chocolate drink, far less calories:)
  •
Hope these tips help you to keep on track.  Why not tell me what else you do to keep you on track by leaving me a comment below.

Now its tempting to over eat during the season especially if you are visiting family or friends and there are lost of delicious dishes to eat.  So, here are some of my handy tips that will help you keep your calories in check.

    1. Drink a glass of water before you eat a meal or snack - this fills you up and therefore you will not be tempted to eat as much.
    2. Eat a handful of MUFAS before you eat your main meal, things like cashews, half an avacado pear,  a square of dark chocolate. This will help to burn belly fat. These items are good fats which will burn viscal fat.
    3. Eat little but often, watch the portion sizes.
    4. Go for a lovely winter walk after your main meal, this will not only aid indigestion but get your metabolism going.
    5. Get into the festivities, join in with the kids with fun and games, burn some extra calories.

Lose Weight Can Be Easy or Hard, It All Depends On YOU!

How hard have you tried in the past to lose weight and gave up after two weeks or so of trying? Come on guys lets face it, it took you a while to pile on the pounds, what makes you think that you can  get rid of it so quicklyLosing weight has to be your choice no one elses.  Once you decide you wish to lose weight, ask yourself the question - what will this weight loss do for me? How would it make me feel?  Above all else, when you are tempted your reason or your feelings for losing weight should be so strong, you ultimately are conscious of these feelings and act upon them positively , that is to deny what ever is tempting you.

It's a mindset thing, and you have to have control over both your conscious and subconscious mind for your weight loss to be effective.  Listen to this, have you ever made up your mind to lose weight, then a few moments later you open the fridge door and there sitting on the shelf is a large slice of cheese cake, or  something just as naughty, you say to yourself, I must be good as I am on a diet, but your sub conscious mind takes out the cake and before you know it you have eaten the slice!  What's wrong with that scene?

Well your subconsious mind just ignored your conscious mind, which is something it is programmed to do by YOU.  So how to you re-programme your sub conscious so that it listens to you?   NLP or Neuro Linguistic Programming can help to do this effectively, but you must be open to it in the first instance.  Anthony Robbins and many others teaches this technique. You also have to have a really strong why in the first place.  Many of us know what we have to do to lose weight, eat less, exercise more, but we find it hard to get motivated to do so.

Having a buddy, someone who makes you accountable is a great way to lose weight and stay in shape.  Also, if there is a way in which you can STOP buying the foods that tempt you or have them in the house, go ahead and do that.  You will be amazed how quickly you adapt to good eating habits when bad food is not around.

Here's a program which you may find helps with changing your mindset and helping you to achieve your weight loss goals.  Let me have your reviews if any :)

    4 Weight Loss Tips

    1) Watch your daily calories intake:
    • Write down everything you eat in a day
    • Where you can plan ahead, breakfast, lunch and dinner
    • Look at alternatives to the naughty foods you like i.e.substitute dark chocolate for milk chocolate, fruits instead of cakes / biscuits etc..
    • Choose lean meat and only have red meat once a week less if you can.
    • Eating a healthy breakfast increases your rest metabolic rate earlier in the day, and reduces snacking before lunch. Porridge, cereal or yoghurt are good sturdy breakfast alternatives.

    2) Eat five meals a day: eating small meals ensures that you keep your metabolism ticking over, so that it burns fat. This includes snacks.

    3) Drink plenty of water, both before and in between meals. As you burn fat, your body produces waste materials: water helps your body to flush them out of your system.

    4) Exercise daily: exercise for 15 minutes in the morning and in the evening will burn fat but build the muscles.
