Day 9 Reading Labels is so important to aid weight loss

This is a great video I found which explains how to read the labels of products. What levels of Carbs, Fats and Proteins we need depending on weight and height. It is really important to know what you are eating, and how much salt and fat we are ingesting in our diets.

Day 8 -Healthy Exercise

Still going strong and its Day 8. My body is not as sluggish as it was before, my energy levels are high. I find I dont have a craving for biscuits or cakes as I did before going on the detox. Tell me if you feel the same?

The key to successful weight loss is the exercise. Gentle walking, to hectic workouts. We need to be able to do something that raises your heart rate at least three to four times a week. It is also important to take rest breaks in a routine so your body does not build up resistance.

Here is a great exercise for flattening your stomach.

Day 6 Detox - lost 3lbs - yeah!

Day Six and over the headache barrier, felt full of energy today. FOur days left to my detox and my skin is glowing and I feel better for it so far. I weighed myself this morning and found I had lost 3lbs which is great or 6 days.
Of course lots of water and exercise has helped as well as eating sensibly and healthy.

For breakfast today I had a boiled egg with green runner beans (yes thats right french runner beans for breakfast), this has lots of protein and eating the green beans helps with burning fat believe it or not. I also had a cup of green tea.

For lunch I had a cup of soup.

For my snacks I had a banana in the afternoon with a plum (I did not need amid morning snack as I was still full from breakast!)

For my dinner this evening I had stir fry vegetables (carrots, parsnips, runner beans, baby sweet corn, red peppers, green peppers onions with a little garlic and soy sauce with egg noodles.

I have been following this yoga technique which is helping my stomach and other areas, why not try it out too..

Day Five Detox - Foods to aid your detox

Hi Guys Day Five, and I was so overcome yesterday with fatigue and a massive headache, needless to say, not enough water and possibly not enough calories. Need to ensure you are eating enough calories even if detoxing. So here are some tips of foods that are good for you

For the first seven days and the last three days of the plan dieters should consume:

* At least one to three ‘liver-loving’ foods or supplements which include cabbage, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, leafy green vegetables, oranges, lemons, limes, garlic, onions, eggs, artichoke, asparagus, beets, celery, and whey protein.
* At least one ‘colon-loving’ food or supplement which include psyllium husks, ground flaxseed, carrots, apple, pear or berries.
* Two servings of lean protein such as chicken breast or white fish
* One to two tablespoons of flaxseed or olive oil.

Day 4 Detox

Well, I had planned a short video for u but I have been having problems uploading it.

Day 4, woke up with slight headache, so detox is working but need to drink more water.

Had steamed cod with lots of fresh steamed veg for dinner. Did 30 minutes with personal trainer and feeling aches in my calves and thighs with all those lunges and squats....

If u want to be vain got to feel the pain!

Day Three - Detox

Ok, this was crunch day, felta little lethargic today, but that was expected. Started out with Green tea and Cranberry, then had some pineapplefor breakfast.

After a gruelling 15 minutes shovelling snow off my car (must have burned around 120 cals alone doing that!) I then set off to drop my son school and then back to work.

If like me you have hectic days, it is important to keep hydrated and drink lots of water. I had another cup of green tea, a banana for elevenses, then worked through lunch with two plums. and apple and a tangerine.

Lots more water, a brief run up four flights of stairs for the afternoon before driving back home.

Dinner was light, two boiled eggs, green beans (with soya butter and cracked peppers), on a bed of spinach. Lots of protein in dark leafy veg, and in the eggs. Protein fills you up better than carbs do, and it has an extraordinary way of switching your body off craving carbs....

I had a rest day today from my personal trainer, but I guess shovelling off the snow and running up the stairs made up for this :)

Can't wait for Day 4, oops look at the time, it is Day 4:)

Well I better sign off and continue later when I have my 7 hours of sleep :)

Letme know how you are all getting on with your detox's out there! Leave me a comment or ask a question...

Detox Day Two

Day 2 of the detox programme.

This morning started off with a cup of green tea and cranberry, and a quarter of honeydew melon. Melon should be eaten on its own and not mixed with other fruit as your digestive system finds it hard to break down other fruits with melon, and will only cause fermentation and possibly discomfort instead.

About 10am I had a snack- 1 banana and a glass of room temperature water. This helped to keep my energy levels up as in general fruit digests in about 20 minutes in the system.

During the day, I did about an hour and a half of housework. This was very strenous housework, tidying both of my sons bedroom. This probably burned up around 250 - 350 calories alone. I did drink two glasses of water while tidying up their rooms.

Lunch time which was around 1pm for me, I had a cup of soup, and another glass of water.

30 minutes after my lunch, I did a 20 minute workout, mainly routines to tone up my arms, legs and lower back. I used a band for tension and this helps with toning up.

For dinner I cooked traditional Sunday dinner which was rice and peas, chicken, broccoli, cauliflower and carrots with plantain and roast potatoes.
For myself, I just had the vegetables potatoe and plantain, with another glass of water.

A good tip about dinner is to ensure that you eat your main meal before 8pm as this is when the body begins to shut itself down in preparation for sleep. Sleep is important to the body as this is the time it takes to repair itself.

One of the things to stop putting on weight is to not snack after 8. (hey that rhymes :))

Another tip is to not have a heavy meal last thing at night, as for instance meat may take upto 3 hours to digest in your system, and if you eat late and go to bed after, then this meat is still sitting in your stomach undigested.

As we have cut out meat in our detox,we should not have this problem...

You can drink as much green tea during the day as you wish. However, if you have problems with high blood pressure or heart problems, you may wish to look at how much caffeine you consume daily. Green tea not only has cleansing benefits, it also has thermojetic benefits. What is this I hear you ask, well it has benefits of raising the body temperature slightly which in turn switches on your metabolism and speeds it which in turn burns body fat.

Exercise is also another way to raise your metabolism, and once raised can keep working for a few hours afterwards.

Day 3 of our challenge is tomorrow. Keep drinking lots of water, go for long walks or exercise 30 -45minutes at least 4 days of the week.

Catch you tomorrow..

This is day one of a full body detox to cleanse the digestive system and to ensure effective weight loss.

All those rich foods which were digested over the holiday period have made us feel lethargic, overweight and our clothes a little bit tighter. First things first, detox to get rid of all the toxins and gunk you have fed your body during the last 14 days or so.

For the next 10 days:

4 Weight Loss Tips

1) Watch your daily calories intake:
• Write down everything you eat in a day
• Where you can plan ahead, breakfast, lunch and dinner
• Look at alternatives to the naughty foods you like i.e.substitute dark chocolate for milk chocolate, fruits instead of cakes / biscuits etc..
• Choose lean meat and only have red meat once a week less if you can.
• Eating a healthy breakfast increases your rest metabolic rate earlier in the day, and reduces snacking before lunch. Porridge, cereal or yoghurt are good sturdy breakfast alternatives.

2) Eat five meals a day: eating small meals ensures that you keep your metabolism ticking over, so that it burns fat. This includes snacks.

3) Drink plenty of water, both before and in between meals. As you burn fat, your body produces waste materials: water helps your body to flush them out of your system.

4) Exercise daily: exercise for 15 minutes in the morning and in the evening will burn fat but build the muscles.
